Microsoft has recently released the new Window's Vista
Operating system. Many of the new computers come with Vista
pre-installed on the computer. Vista Operating system might
include the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Access,
PowerPoint, etc.). Microsoft Office versions 97 through 2003 are
the only versions of Microsoft Office supported by the school
network at this time. You will still be able to post
assignments, documents, etc. to Blackboard, however, you must
save your documents to an earlier version of Office. For more
detailed information, please continue reading and follow the
step-by-step instructions included with this update.
Step 1. After you have completed the assignment, essay, etc.,
you will need to click the "Save As" option on the left of your
screen.
Step 2. Now you will need to select version 97-2003 option
from the right-side of the screen.
Step 3. Saving your Microsoft Office 2007 generated documents
to an earlier version will ensure that your instructor can view
your submitted documents in Blackboard (digital dropbox,
assignments, essays, etc.). If you do not follow these steps,
your instructor will not be able to view your submissions
because they will have the older version of the software. Older
versions of Microsoft Office programs will not read new versions
of the product. Example Microsoft Office 2000 will not read
documents produced by Microsoft Office 2003 and Microsoft Office
2003 will not read documents produced by Microsoft Office 2007
(Vista).
